INSIGHTFUL, EMPOWERING, CONNECTOR
Insight is the first step to understanding and embracing what is good and inherently true within each individual. My mission is to help outstanding individuals navigate the roadblocks that may inhibit them from excelling in all areas of their lives. I am passionate about empowering others to connect interpersonally and to successfully integrate mind and body.
Dr. Dow works with adolescents, adults, and families as well as with high-powered executives. By empowering individuals to find and liberate their authentic inner leader, Dr. Dow guides them to reflect and act as the best version of themselves in their careers and lives.
Dr. Dow has over 15 years of experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland. Her honors thesis examined the psychological benefits of victims' impact statements on victims. Following her undergraduate work she obtained a Masters Degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University where she worked with executives and team members to improve productivity and job satisfaction in the corporate environment. Dr. Dow went on to earn a second Masters degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in Tampa, Florida. Her Doctoral research focused on the correlation between eating disorders and substance abuse. Her training has been broad and spanned a variety of settings including outpatient mental health clinics, inpatient hospitals, foster care, university counseling centers, jails, and courtrooms. She has trained extensively in trauma working with survivors of abuse; and as part of the TIRR program, she counseled soldiers who suffer with PTSD.
While Dr. Dow currently focuses her time on private practice conducting individual and group therapy, she views every day as a chance to grow and evolve professionally and personally. She has been trained as a Strategic Intervention Coach (Robbins/ Madanes- Tony Robbins coaching program) and is certified in a cutting edge trauma technique called ART- Accelerated Resolution Therapy. Additionally, she has begun co-designing a program for schools focused on the importance of the father-daughter relationship and its role in creating strong female leaders.
Dr. Dow's therapy practice is grounded in years of clinical experience, reflecting her belief in an integrative approach to emotional health and the power of the mind-body connection. She has a relaxed, approachable style that allows individuals to collaboratively work with her using a blend of traditional and cutting edge treatment techniques. She aims to help her clients both identify the obstacles that get in the way of achieving their goals and work towards overcoming them to improve psychological and physical health.
Therapy for Adolescents:
Dr. Dow has extensive experience working with adolescents and understands the challenges that teens face today on their way to adulthood. She helps teens deal with difficult concerns in addition to managing stress, developmental/body changes and identity/peer issues that may create barriers to them reaching their full potential.
Adults often seek therapy when they are facing serious challenges and are noticing undesirable patterns in their lives. Dr. Dow empowers her clients to take charge of their lives by helping them understand how their past experiences and their current lifestyle may impact their moods and behavior. Additionally, she believes in the importance of beginning with the end goal in mind for individuals to maximize their success both personally and professionally.
Sometimes the ways that members of a family handle problems make them more likely to develop symptoms. As a result, a more cohesive, connected unit minimizes the likelihood of problems being transferred from one family member to another. Dr. Dow uses family therapy to help facilitate such cohesion. Additionally, she works with parents who want increased support as they work to improve their relationship with their teenagers, or as they manage unexpected changes within their family.

How often should I come to therapy?
This varies somewhat depending on the individual. The vast majority of Dr. Dow’s clients come once per week, every week. Following the initial evaluation, Dr. Dow will give recommendations about the frequency of sessions because each treatment plan is tailored individually for the client.
Do you take insurance?
Dr. Dow is not on any insurance panels at this time. What that means is that you are responsible for the fee at the time of the session. However, most insurance plans (PPO’s) will allow people to be at least partially reimbursed for the therapy sessions they have paid for. Should you opt to use your insurance, she will be happy to furnish you with a bill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
